Removals in Idle

Idle is an old village in north Bradford, with stone cottages and terraces around The Green and newer homes spreading towards Thorpe Edge, Greengates and Apperley Bridge. It has kept its village feel, which is lovely to live in but can make access tight.

Moving home in Idle

Idle has a real village centre, with stone cottages, old shops and terraces close to The Green. Around it, streets of semis, bungalows and terraces built through the 20th century lead out towards Thorpe Edge, Greengates and Apperley Bridge, where there are newer homes too. That mix means we might move a two-bedroom cottage with a winding staircase in the morning and a four-bedroom semi in the afternoon. For the smaller, tighter homes our man and van service is often the best fit.

Streets, parking and access

The older streets around the village centre are narrow, some are steep and parked cars leave little room. We check access before the day and may use a smaller van or carry from a nearby street. Cottages often have low doorways and tight, turning stairs, so we take apart beds and wardrobes and protect walls and banisters as we go.

The main routes through Idle, including Leeds Road and Highfield Road, are busy at peak times and around the local primary schools. Where we can, we load outside those hours. Apperley Bridge station is close by, with trains towards Leeds and Shipley, which is useful if you are moving here for work.

Our base on Alum Drive is about 4.5 miles away, a straightforward drive across the north of the city. Idle customers often move to Thackley or Eccleshill, but we also handle moves across the UK. Our Bradford removals team gives a 3-hour arrival time slot and a free quote that stays valid for 3 months, so you can book before your dates are fixed.

Moving in Idle: common questions

Can a removal van get into the older streets around The Green?

Some of the oldest streets are narrow, with tight corners and parked cars. For those we may use a smaller van or park nearby and carry a short way. Tell us about your street when you ask for a quote.

Is a man and van enough for a cottage move?

Often, yes. Smaller cottages and flats suit a man and van, which is also easier to park on narrow streets. For bigger houses we send a larger van and team.

When are the roads busiest?

The main roads through Idle, such as Leeds Road and Highfield Road, are busy at rush hour and around school times. Where we can, we plan loading to avoid those peaks.

Can you store our things if we cannot move straight in?

Yes. We can collect, store and deliver later if your new home is not ready. Tell us the rough dates and we will include storage in your quote.
