Moving home in Allerton
Allerton is a bigger suburb than many people expect. Much of it is semi-detached and terraced housing built across the 20th century, with council-built estates, private semis and newer homes on the edges. Around Allerton Road there are older stone cottages and terraces from when it was a separate village. Most moves here are family homes with gardens, garages and lofts, which is where our house removals service comes in, with packing and storage if you need them.
Streets, parking and access
Compared with inner Bradford, parking is often easier, with drives and wider estate roads. The trickier spots are cul-de-sacs, sharp bends and steep drives, where a large van may need to stop on the next road. Allerton is high and exposed, so in winter we keep an eye on ice on slopes and steps.
Garages and gardens add to the load, so walk round before you ask for a quote. Under our terms, sheds and outdoor furniture are quoted separately, and we can only work in a loft that has a fitted ladder and boarding. Telling us about these early means the quote matches the job on the day.
Chellow Dean, with its two reservoirs and woodland paths, is a short walk from many homes, and a good place to take the children while the van is loaded.
Getting here from our base
Our base on Alum Drive is about 3 miles away, so most Allerton jobs are a short drive across the west of the city. Moving in Allerton: common questions
Is there usually room to park outside homes in Allerton?
On many estate roads there is, especially where houses have drives. Cul-de-sacs and turning heads can be tight for a large van. Tell us if your road is narrow or has a sharp bend and we will choose the vehicle to suit.
Do you move garden furniture and sheds?
Yes, but sheds and outdoor furniture are quoted separately under our terms, so mention them when you ask for a quote. Sheds usually need taking apart before they can travel.
Can you store our things if the new house is not ready?
Yes, we offer storage between moves. Tell us roughly how long you need and what you are storing, and we will include it in your quote.
What should I plan for in winter?
Allerton is on high ground and can be windy and icy in winter. If frost or snow is forecast, keep paths and steps clear and tell us if your drive is steep, so we can plan a safe route to the van.
