A village on the edge of the city

Clayton is a former mill village on the western side of Bradford, in the BD14 postcode. The older part, around Clayton Lane, John Street and the streets near Victoria Park, is made up of stone terraces and cottages, many with small yards at the back. Further out, towards Clayton Heights and the Queensbury side, there are larger estates of semi-detached houses, bungalows and newer homes.

That mix means Clayton moves vary a lot. One week we might move a couple out of a two-up two-down terrace, and the next a family of five out of a detached house with a garage full of bikes. We ask the right questions at quote stage so the team and van size match the job.

Access and timing

The village centre has narrow streets, tight corners and plenty of parked cars. Two primary schools sit close to the middle of Clayton, so drop-off and pick-up times bring extra traffic to nearby roads. Where we can, we load and unload outside those windows, and we always check where the van can stop before the day.

We are about 4 miles away on Alum Drive in BD9. We give a three-hour arrival slot, and the short drive across the west of the city means we are rarely held up for long.

Small moves and full house moves

Not every move needs a large van. For a flat, a few rooms or a single sofa, our man and van service is often the simplest option. For a full house, we send a bigger team and can pack for you as well. Quotes are free and stay valid for three months.

Moving in Clayton: common questions

Is a man and van enough for a move in Clayton?

For a small flat, a few rooms or a single large item, it often is. For a full family house we usually recommend a house removal with a bigger team, and we will tell you honestly which suits your move.

Can you avoid the school run on moving day?

We plan around it where we can. Clayton has primary schools close to the village centre, so we try to load and unload outside drop-off and pick-up times on nearby streets.

Which GP surgery is in Clayton?

Hollyns Health and Wellbeing has a surgery at Glenholme Park in Clayton. Contact the practice to register once you have your new address.
